About Us

Have you ever heard someone say… “That musician is a musician’s musician!”

That usually means they are someone who other musicians admire and respect.

It takes one to know one… you might say.

That’s what United Musicians Radio is about. It’s about the musicians your favorite musicians love.

How do we know what musicians are favored by other musicians?

Because the owners of this station are all musicians too. We’ve been professional musicians for well over 30 years ourselves. We are all members of working bands.

And we are people who have dedicated our lives to learning the difference between good and GREAT music.

You know great music when you hear it. It’s real. It’s relevant. And it moves you.

But most radio stations just play what the owners tell them to play.

That’s why we started United Musicians Radio. We wanted a place where we can hear the music we love – not just the music someone else wants us to hear. We feel the corporate, radio station conglomerates are depriving you of hearing the best, because that is not their goal and — and this is important — they are not good judges of great music. They have an agenda that is profit-oriented and the music is secondary.

Some radio station consultants and corporate music directors are not musicians and have never played a minute of music and do not know the difference between a good song and a good parking place.

Music categories are ear prisons. We will only use categories only as street signs to help you find certain types of music — but we do not endorse categories.

Music comes from somewhere.

Where does it come from?

What is it derivative of?

Those are some of the questions we will explore. This will be akin to graduate school seminar for music lovers.

Our Purpose

Our founders love music, as you do, and each have been part of the music world for over 50 years.

And whether you call the music you love Americana, rhythm & blues, folk, country, jazz, old timey, bluegrass, funk or just plain rock and roll — it doesn’t really matter. You know that it moves you and has the true soulfulness and creativity that is at the heart of all great music.

We do not care if the song was a hit or might become a hit. Time is the real judge of great music and only music that stands the test of time will be with us for the long haul.

Our goal is to share that great music and provide a musician’s perspective on it. We’ll be playing the music YOUR favorite musicians love.

We’ll share the backstage stories that you can’t find unless you know these musicians personnally. And that’s at the heart of what we will do. We’ll help you feel that those musicians are your personal friends.

So join us — on the bandstand, backstage and at our rehearsals. Get to know what it’s like to be “with the band” and share the ups and downs of the music business and the creative process as we try to make great music — for you.

So much wonderful music goes unnoticed due to the corporate takeover. I use to follow my DJ growing up….Dj’s aren’t even Dj’s anymore. I look forward to hearing more!!!

Hey ya’ll…THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!
I’ve been part of the AMA since its inception but got lost in it
going “big time” and catering more to superstars that to people
like me who fell thru the cracks of the big time chart radio crap.

To Stu Cook: I just did a series of show with our mutual pal Louie Ortega
while on my annual west coast tour. I’m about to head for my 19th year of
Europe tours (mostly the UK) and have a new record about to drop called
“From Me To You” which, as my last year’s “Bob On A Stick”, was recorded with a a room full of my favorite west coast musicians sitting around an single AEA R88
ribbon mic recording all the songs LIVE!!!

The Dropbox link for the songs is : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/06r0mgqdeg0345w/AAAVP5fp8SYFKm2QPfYMModMa?dl=0

Thank you guys/girls again…and keep on rockin’ in the free world!!!!
    Ciao bob cheevers
